Indawo
The all season hot tub has it's own undercover large private outdoor area and is positioned overlooking the breathtaking view of the AONB Tamar Valley and Dartmoor NP. There is an outdoor hot shower and washing machine and retractable indoor clothes line.
The Signal Box has undergone an update and is freshly decorated with a new floor, new furniture and a separate freezer in the kitchen area.
Located in the grounds of our decommissioned railway station home 'The Signal Box' is set on it's own in total privacy and well away from the main station house, at the end of a long driveway that runs over the site of the old railway tracks.
Fully fenced (dog safe) private garden adjoining farmland, open plan fitted kitchen with 2 ring electric hob, electric oven, separate microwave, spacious fitted fridge and separate three drawer freezer, shower room with double shower cubicle and power shower. Front (back) garden and a large sun deck with table and chairs and bench overhanging the paddock and a large covered brick paved outdoor area with power and light which houses the hot tub and garden furniture, a bistro set, outside electric shower, washing machine. Webber kettle BBQ, Outside lighting, sockets and outside tap.
Keybox entry, electric gated main entrance and driveway to the property & private parking right outside the front door of The Signal Box.
The Signal Box is a unique property which would appeal to railway enthusiasts and those who enjoy exploring all that the great location has to offer. The property is set in a UNESCO World Heritage Site (The Tamar Valley) and an AONB and also adjoins Duchy of Cornwall farmland.
The space has been set up with couples and their pet(s) in mind but there is space to bring a small child from baby up to toddler age (if a cot or bed is needed you will need to bring that with you).
There is no restriction on a couple bringing one small child. The space is set up for couples so, if a mother, father, grandparent, auntie or uncle etc wishes to book the space with a related child of any age, that's absolutely fine too, a couple can be an adult and a related child in their care, adult mother and daughter, father and son, any combination is fine just as long as it's two people and if there's a third, ideally an infant under 2 years of age. Any questions, just drop me a message.
Dogs/Pets - more than one dog/pet is allowed, the garden and living space has enough room - please advise in advance.
The original station master's house, hay barn and a replica waiting room/ticket office are all still in place together with the platform and the site of the old tracks and stunning granite railway bridge. As a point of interest, during the First World War, the station was the South West's main hay storage depot, from where hay was transported to London by rail to supplement the war effort in which horses played a vital role.

PLEASE NOTE: IF THE SIGNAL BOX IS BOOKED FOR THE DATES YOU REQUIRE, IT HAS A TWIN SISTER CALLED 'THE SIDINGS' WHICH IS ALSO LISTED ON AIRBNB, IT HAS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME ACCOMMODATION AND OFFERING AS THE SIGNAL BOX AND ALSO HAS A LARGE HOT TUB, IT IS LOCATED IN A TOTALLY SEPARATE PART OF THE PROPERTY WITHOUT CONNECTION TO THE SIGNAL BOX.

Cornwall, England, i-United Kingdom

The property is located in an AONB (The Tamar Valley) and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The surrounding area has many places of interest, here are a few to whet your appetite: there are many walking trails close by: Kit Hill with far reaching outstanding views from the summit, Cotehele to Calstock, Tamar Trails in Gulworthy and Dartmoor National Park to name a few. The local area is a world heritage site for mining, there are many mines worth visiting in the locality. There are many beautiful National Trust properties in Devon and Cornwall including Cotehele which is less than 2 miles away, Saltram House near Plymouth, Pentille Castle is close by and featured in the TV series 'Delicious', numerous quality pubs & restaurants, Tavistock with it's beautiful pannier market and, for Poldark fans, Bodmin Moor is close by (15 minutes away by car) and stunning Charlestown (just 31 minutes away by car). Port Isaac of TV's Doc Martin fame, is just 55 minutes drive away, St Mellion International golf and leisure resort is less than 10 minutes drive away and offers two golf courses, spa and gym. We have provided many maps, guides and leaflets in the property for guests to peruse at their leisure and we are also happy to provide recommendations if required.
Please take time to look at my recommendations below including local events and dog friendly places, this will be updated occasionally.
We would recommend 'iwalkcornwall' for suggestions on local walks and further afield, it's helpful because they provide lots of detailed information to help you to choose a walk to suit your exact requirements.

Whilst on holiday in St Mawes, Cornwall having lunch at The Pandora Inn at Mylor with my sister and brother in law back in September '14, my husband Tim and I decided it was time to make some changes in our lives and we both went on to give up our long term careers; I worked in foreign exchange and had been based at Gatwick Airport for 23 years and my husband in the motor trade in Beckenham, Kent for over 30 years. We then went on to sell our home in Surrey and moved to Cornwall in August '17 - two years ahead of our planned target! We both love everything about our lives in Cornwall we feel blessed to enjoy the added benefit of living just under 2 miles from the border between Cornwall and Devon. During our working lives, we both especially enjoyed the customer service side of our roles so it was a natural transition of career for us to join forces and combined our shared passion and skill sets together running our two holiday homes - The Signal Box and The Sidings. We believe we've achieved the perfect balance here with both holiday properties located in totally different unique and private areas of our former railway station home with both set well away from the main station house and so that guests can enjoy a privacy, seclusion and peace. Since moving to Cornwall, we have spent our time renovating our home and improving our holiday homes and the grounds of the station creating, what for us, is a unique and special place to live and for people to visit. Since we opened The Signal Box and The Sidings we have welcomed and listened to feedback from guests as well as ideas and advice from friends and family and using this valuable information we continually strive to keep improving and refreshing our offering. Whilst we were closed for business during the pandemic we were grateful that we were given the opportunity and downtime to make changes and improvements to both The Sidings and The Signal Box that we believe have added to the overall experience. Enjoying 'that view' has been the number one positive comment shared by our visitors and we feel that the addition of hot tubs and outside undercover areas facing 'that view' added to the experience and provided additional covered outdoor space for when the weather and seasons dictate. We are really looking forward to the seasons ahead and will continue striving together to provide guests with totally unique and memorable experiences at The Signal Box and The Sidings. Constructive feedback is always welcomed so that we may continue to improve. Our life her isn't just about us, we have some very much loved pets too... Rico, is our 6.5 year old big grey soppy rescued Italian Mastiff (Cane Corso) - we understand that many guests bring their own dogs here with them so we tend to keep him out of the way in our part of the property when guests advise us that they are bringing their dogs with them. Our cats Florence (fluffy black) and Dougal (fluffy ginger) are 3 years old, and brother and sister - born in the RSPCA in Cornwall and both wonderful personalities but tend to stay out of the way. The three sheep living in the paddock surrounding The Signal Box (all tame and all dog friendly/savy) are: Francis (the big boy) he's the oldest at 4 years old and I brought him down from Surrey to live with us in Cornwall, he was a tame bottle fed lamb in a farmers field and I fell in love with him and wanted to save him from his fate... The two other little sheep are Boris and Donald - they are rare breed white faced Dartmoor sheep that I bought from a farm in Devon. The breed originates from the Dartmoor area so I felt they were ideal to join the Luckett Station flock. I leave treat food available at The Signal Box for those who wish to feed the greedy sheep. We have just added another little lamb to the Luckett Flock - 7 week old Thomas joined us in July and is currently spending time segregated from the other sheep and slowly getting to know them and settling in. I also keep 10 beautiful pet chickens in a large enclosure close to the main house, (and regularly let them roam in the station grounds) 4 stunning grey, white and black copper marans amongst them. If they are available, guests are offered eggs to buy for their stay - they're delicious! That’s about it...

Phakathi nokuhlala kwakho

My husband Tim and I live in the old station house on our own along with our pets and will be onsite most days and generally available if needed by guests for anything.

The Signal Box is located far enough away from the main property so that guests can expect total privacy, peace, quiet and seclusion.
Guests arrive and depart using a key box entry system beside the main gate. (after 2pm for arrival day and by 10am on departure day) the code for the key box and information needed will be provided to guests in advance of their stay.
The property is ideal for anyone wanting to get away from it all, re-charge their batteries, relax and rest.
The sleeping arrangements may be altered to suit requirements - the bedroom isset up with a king sized bed but two single beds can be made up if required.
Note: if single beds are required, please request in advance.
