LET'S GET OUT OF THE TOURIST AREA where it is overpriced and crowded with people! This tour focuses on Ueno, which is not as crowded as Shibuya, Shinjuku and is less touristy. It is also famous with Japanese foodies for a good quality at reasonable prices. I'm going to take you to popular bars and restaurants for ONLY LOCALS (NO TOURISTS!!) where the staff speaks only Japanese. I will order signature dishes, and we will discuss the food and drink (and you can pepper me with questions). We will visit 4 restaurants/taverns in total, where you will sample sashimi, grilled fish and skewered meat, etc. You will also have the opportunity to try UNIQUE Japanese alcoholic drinks (5 or more different type of drinks) and you'll be able to experience what Japanese taverns are like. After visiting these three taverns, we will end the tour at a great Ramen shop that is popular with locals. At the end of the tour, I will explain which train station you need to go, depending on where you go. You are going to have a full-size meal on the day in several different restaurants included ramen, so again pls come hungry!

They serve terrifically delicious Japanese dishes washed down with beer, Japanese sake and/or other booze. Then we will walk you through the red-light district called Kabuki-cho in Japanese, which is one of the biggest areas here, and witness the actual night life of Japan. And to cap off the tour, we will be going to the bar district where there are over 200 bars to go around in this area which is famous for its time-period sub cultures located in buildings that elicits the time-period themes portrayed. We will visit one to two bars.And you can continue the bar hopping after the tour to explore the rest of the 200 bars! So, what are you waiting for! Let’s go and meet a lot of colorful and exciting people. These are the best places to enjoy your night life in Shinjuku! Other things to note We will walk a lot. Please wear comfortable shoes. We'll start at the new Toyosu—the world's largest fish market. We'll then go to the outer area known as the Tsukiji old market and Tsukiji Uogashi, a new building with fish-selling areas, including a background area, We'll drop in for fish while experiencing the authentic and dynamic atmosphere of a wholesale market. After taking some shopping time at the outer area, we'll purchase a variety of fish and head to Asakusa. We'll visit the popular Buddhist Sensō-ji temple before we go to my shop to prepare Kaisekistyle lunch--Traditional Japanese Cuisine--, Kaisen Donburi—sashimi rice bowls—with fresh seafood and more. After our meal, we'll have some surprise treats. Please note that the markets are lively and changing each day. Please arrive on time and be aware that the experience can run over time. Welcome to No.1 samurai experience in Tokyo! First you'll change the clothes into "kimono" and "hakama" is samurai style. Introducing with tea ceremony Matcha green tea and Wagashi sweets Next we'll watch a real Japanese katana—a traditional sword used by the samurai of ancient and feudal Japan. Then you'll learn how to handle it with unsharpened katana. We'll also do a traditional Zen meditation. It's called "Rituzen". After doing meditation, you will be calm mind and you can cut one bundle of straw with real sword. Through using with real katana yourself, you can feel one part of swordsmanship as samurai. Lastly, you'll watch a performance using real katana by host. This experience has no flashy production, but you can feel the "real". You can enjoy not only training but also total samurai culture with this time. More than over 50country, over 3000 people joined. From families, couples to martial artists, various people touched and enjoyed the “real” samurai world! If you bring a camera, you can taking some pictures of samurai pauses which learning in this experience! This experience is also great for team building up to about 15 people. Recently the value of Japanese food has been reconsidered. Japanese food is very healthy and beautiful. In my class, you should learn them easy and delicious . You can learn how to make three types pretty sushi in my class. It is not traditional sushi craftsmen teaching, but it is much in originality. You‘ll enjoy the seasonal feeling from those sushi. Your making sushi is the only one in the world. Also I can prepare vegetarians option. Because these sushi can change the ingredients into vegetables . After make them , let's eat together. I will serve delicious miso soup . After the meal is over, I’ll put Kimono on you. you can choose what you like from several kimono. Then lets enjoy tea ceremony together. Please enjoy the taste of Japanese confectionery and powder green tea. My favorite word is一期一会(Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity) I want to treasure every meeting and encounter I have. "Maki-e" is a Japanese traditional art using urushi lacquer and metal powder. In this experimental class, you will decorate lacquerware using hira-maki-e—a simple technique that can be finished in one day. Even an absolute beginner, who knows nothing at all about makie, can enjoy it. During this class, you can experience real maki-e, using genuine Japanese lacquer and metal powder. You can choose a vessel and a design from various stencils. I'll prepare the tools and materials, so you do not need to bring anything to the class. After tracing the design onto the vessel, you'll draw the design with a brush for maki-e and urushi lacquer, and sprinkle metal powder on top. At the end, I'll pack your work in a box for you to take home. After leaving it overnight, simply wipe off the extra powder to use your vessel. Other things to note If you have a particular design in mind, please prepare it in advance.

We will start off this experience by learning about cultural aspects about mochi and the traditional sweets. Then we will go on to learning the various sweets: 1. Making mochi (rice cakes) using glutinous rice flour. You will learn how to make strawberry daifuku mochi. 2. Making your own dango (mochi balls on skewers) by mixing water with two kinds of rice flour, sugar and water and coloring it. 3. Making two kinds of seasonal "nerikiri wagashi"—traditional Japanese sweets. You will learn how to shape the dough into a seasonal motif. (Recipe and tutorial video on how to make the dough will be provided) 4. Finally, you will taste your creations with a bowl of matcha green tea that you will learn how to make. If you cannot finish the sweets you can take them with you in a box. You will be notified if the class if it is a Nerikiri Wagashi Only (Making 4 kinds of Nerikiri Wagashi with Tea Ceremony) Class or a Mochi Only Class (Making 5 kinds of Mochi Dishes) at the time of booking. *Other fruits may be used in case strawberries are not available. Other things to note Please state any food allergies or special diet at the time of booking. Children under the age of 4 are not allowed in class due to safety reasons.

Learn the art of Kintsugi—repairing ceramics using lacquer dusted with precious metals. While it usually takes more than a month to finish a Kintsugi piece, I've developed this lesson so you can participate in this craft in one afternoon. With my guidance, you'll apply lacquer and 24-karat gold powder using the traditional techniques and methods. You'll leave with your own Kintsugi piece as a souvenir of the experience. Other things to note At the end of the session you'll be taking home your own Kintsugi ceramic cup, decorated with 24-karat gold. This is worth about 100 usd or 10,000 JPY.

Let's dress up in a genuine KIMONO feeling Japan's traditional dignity. You can choose from plentiful color variations and sizies of Kimono, even big size (Women 150-180cm; Men 160-190cm). Summer time, I will prepare Kyoto brand yukata.But if you want to wear real kimono,you can try it inside the room.(outside is really hot) After dressing up, we will go to nearby Shibamata Taisyakuten Temple(known as the location of Japanese movie films.)It is a simple, local,quiet temple with wonderful garden and Buddhist sculptures carved throughout. Here on weekdays it is really calm and we can enjoy amazing art to our hearts content and take a lot of pictures of you wearing a kimono with the back of the temple garden. The Shibamata approach road is lined with shops selling delicious foods and souvenirs and people offers friendly and warm voices to you. And let's have a Tea Break dressing up in a Kimono in my house. You can enjoy green tea with Japanese sweets. From now on, I will give special consideration to safety, and I will try to learn and enjoy Japanese life by using my traditional Japanese house. First, you will learn the basic history of swords and how they are manufactured. You will also actually disassemble a sword to deepen their understanding of its parts. During the iai lesson,you will learn proper sword etiquette, and the basics of handling and swinging a sword. Next, using a Bokuto,you will learn how to use the curve and center ridge of the sword. After that, you will learn about offense and defense when facing an opponent using a padded sparring practice sword in a mock duel. Lastly, you will be able to try test cutting .Each guest will have the chance to try cutting two rolled up straw mats. Cutting at the correct angle will result in a cut with no resistance to the blade. Once a you has completed the above three basic disciplines, you will receive a certificate of completion from BIZENKAI. Please take this experience home as a memory of Japan.

We will gather together to learn the art of Shodo–Japanese calligraphy. We can study the most popular Japanese characters using Fude (brush), Sumi (Indian ink), also we can study Japanese Do's and Don'ts at the same time. We can talk and discuss our today's work after our lesson, over cookies and tea. You could say that it was the most impressive and memorable experience on your trip.

We will begin by putting on the judo suit and learning the proper way to bow, stand, and sit. First, we will warm-up on the tatami mats. Then, we will practice UKEMI, which is receiving body for safety. You will learn two different techniques. TACHIWAZA, standing technique to throw your opponent and NEWAZA, ground work. For the advanced level, we will do RANDORI, sparring upon request. MMA lessons after judo is available (5,000yen for 30 minutes) Water is provided. Shower rooms and training equipments are free to use as well. The floors and walls are covered by mats. Very safe for all levels.

We will explore the greater part of Shinjuku, the busiest area in Tokyo to show you popular spots as well as hidden gems. We'll have a couple of bites during the city walk. We'll then head to two izakaya restaurants that are popular among the locals. Places we visit range from modern to traditional, and if you are looking to try just ramen and sushi, this might not be the right one for you. Throughout the evening, we’ll taste different Japanese foods and drinks, learn about our pub food culture and history, and spend time with other foodies. Also, we offer an optional sake tasting session where we will try 5+ different craft & seasonal sake at our own sake bar in Shinjuku before the tour at 3:30pm (optional & price not included). *We may have extra spots available even if you don't see availability. We will meet and start at the busiest train station in the world, Shinjuku station east exit. Then we will walk to the atmospheric alleyways of Omoideyokocho, where we can see a plethora of small Japanese izakayas that mostly offers yakitori or chicken skewers. Then next we will walk to the Kabukicho area, This entertainment district is filled with bright lights, bars, restaurants, and pachinko parlors as well as touts and hustlers. This place is also where you can find the famous Godzilla road and then from there, we will go to the Golden Gai, which is a collection of mismatched tumbledown bars lining alleyways. After this, (IF TIME PERMITS) We can also move to Shibuya, via the JR Yamanote line train and show you the young and vibrant visual of Tokyo. In daytime, we can detour to one of Tokyo’s most popular parks, the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. The park's spacious lawns, meandering walking paths, and tranquil scenery provide a relaxing escape from the busy urban center around it. (Park’s entrance fee not included) The tour is going to be approx. 2 hours. All of these while I take some candid and posed photos of you. First of all, let's get to know each other with a simple self-introduction. 1. Choose your favorite antique kimono from over 300 types of kimono. (Kimonos are ranked in 4 levels. There are red stickers, blue stickers, green stickers, and yellow stickers. The price of this experience is the lowest rank red sticker kimono. On the day, You can also choose a different kimono (blue sticker +2000 yen ($15), green sticker +4000 yen ($30), yellow sticker +6000 yen ($45).) 2. Iron the hemming tape and put the loops through which the belt passes. Learn how to remake into a new kimono in various ways. 3. Coordinating the kimono you made with the easy-to-wear obi, obiage, and obi tightening. Wear it and take a photo. Other notes ・Men don't have a part called "ohashiyori" in their kimono. Therefore, men's kimonos cannot be remade to add length. For men, we have an experience to print the family crest and kanji of the name on kimono, haori, juban and make it into a jacket. ・There is an additional charge for purchasing a obi. We will visit 4 restaurants/taverns in total, where you will sample sashimi, grilled fish and skewered meat, etc. You will also have the opportunity to try UNIQUE Japanese alcoholic drinks (5 or more different type of drinks) and you'll be able to experience what Japanese taverns are like. After visiting these three taverns, we will end the tour at a great Ramen shop that is popular with locals. At the end of the tour, I will explain which train station you need to go, depending on where you go. You are going to have a full-size meal on the day in several different restaurants included ramen, so again pls come hungry!

Let’s become sushi master by spending a half day with sushi chef! This tour consists of two part. First, we will see around Tsukiji fish market where I will explain how each fish differ. Also I will explain a bit about how to make soup with kelp and dried bonito. Second part is, you will experience sushi making, you can make your own sushi! I make some Omakase sushi for you as well. *Note The duration for this tour is 3hr to 3.5hrs. If you join from 12PM, I recommend walking around the market before we meet.
