Very nice and quiet area by the Tagus river, known for houses decorated with colorful tiles. Among the green lawns in the shade, in this area there are historical monuments that refer to Portugal's maritime past, such as the Belém Tower (Torre de Belém) from the XVI century and the Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos), which takes the form of a ship. Close to the extensive Gothic-style Jerónimos Monastery, is the famous Casa dos Pastéis de Belém, known for its famous and unique cream pastries.
