Drive up the coast to Rockland one day- highlights include The Farnsworth, most famous for it’s multi-generational Wyeths. Shop the main street (don’t miss women’s store 142) and have dinner at Primo (you will need a reservation). Don’t miss walking their incredible gardens with a glass of wine before dinner!

An extraordinary botanical garden. Appeals to the whole family- there are paths and allees and waterfalls and ocean views. also a children’s garden inspired by “Blueberries for Sal”. a lovely cafe, or stop on your way to or from the garden at Red’s Eats - a hut on the side of the road in Wiscasset with arguably the best lobster roll (and onion rings!) in Maine. Long wait- take turns shopping the charming town.

stocking up on food

both trader joe’s and whole foods right off 295 in portland. great wine in Brunswick at Vessel and Vine. Also, the corner of Harpswell Neck Rd. and Mountain Road has Ray’s vegetable corner- limited fruits and veggies, but lots to grill and excellent bacon and cookies!
