After being introduced to the space and to each other, I will provide a quick demonstration on the wheel with a small amount of clay. Afterwards, each guest will be allowed time to create a piece on the wheel from beginning to end with personal instruction and assistance from me. Guests are welcome to make anything they would like to on the wheel! Cup, bowl, vase, dish, etc. (Please Read)The firing of pottery is a long process that is separate from the time we spend on the wheel. Each piece requires a two day long firing process in a kiln, and I hand glaze each piece. I offer kiln services out of my personal studio if you have interest in having your piece fired for a *small fee that is not due the day of the experience.* I do not include this in the price of the experience because some guests do not wish to keep their piece. Wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting some clay on. Clay will wash out, but you may not want to go out right after. The time noted on the experience, 2 hours, is generally descriptive of a 2 person experience which encompasses the majority of my bookings. In general, the experience is 1 hour per person. If there are 3 or 4 people in the booking, likely the experience will extend the 2 hour session time, and if there is 1 person in the booking it will be closer to an hour.

In this fun class, you will learn how to make three different mochi dishes. First we will make fresh mochi with a choice of fillings: sweet red bean and fresh strawberries, peanut butter and chocolate mini cups, nutella, and others. Second, we will make the popular ice cream mochi with mini-scooped ice cream balls. Your choice of ice cream. I like green tea ice cream. Third, we will bake mochi donuts and then glaze them beautifully with vanilla, clear, or chocolate glaze. You and other guests will enjoy making and shaping the mochi dough, filling it with delicious fillings, and eating them with others. You will get to enjoy fresh and tasty mochi, and best of all you will know how to make delicious mochi dishes far into the future. During this class you will learn and hands-on do all the steps to make a beautiful artisan-quality loaf of sourdough bread both with and without the hassle of making a sourdough starter. You will taste a number of different variations of the bread, and learn how to make those variations as well. You will leave with a warm loaf of bread to take home, and sourdough starter if you wish. If baking has always intimidated you, this is a great class for you, as you will leave here with the confidence to DO IT!! Other things to note Even if you have never baked bread before, you will leave with all the skills you need to do this at home, including a list of equipment and ingredients. If you are able to travel with it, we will provide you with some fresh lively sourdough starter to take home. This cannot go on airplanes.

We want to help beginners get out and appreciate the bird world. Don't be shy if you've never birded before - that's what we're here for! (All experience levels are welcome though.) You'll meet us for a slow meander along Sonoma County's bucolic West County Regional Trail in Sebastopol. There, we'll look at, listen to, and identify a variety of songbirds, woodpeckers, raptors, and much more. Time allowing, we’ll walk 1 mile to a water treatment pond for a chance to see some duck species before birding our way back (a flat, paved 2-mile roundtrip). We’ll send you home with a paper checklist of the species we observed throughout our walk. And, if you're on eBird, we will share the day's checklist with you. While at my tea table we will guide you through a tasting expedition. You will have a unique opportunity to taste the vast and ancient world of tea, become familiar with whole-leaf artisan varietals and their growing processes, learn how to develop your taste buds and expertly steep tea at home. We will begin our 2-hour workshop by tasting a variety of specialty White, Green, Oolong, Black, and Pu-erhs teas. As we taste each tea we'll explain what defines each category, share fun stories from visiting these farms in the east, and talk about the health benefits of each tea. Enjoy the presentation as each tea is prepared with mindfulness and precision, using specialty pots and tea tools in the traditional ways of the Chinese Tea Ceremony. This 2.5-hour group clinic was designed with the beginner in mind – we welcome complete newbies as well as people who have tried surfing on their own for a while and still need help. We will walk you through all the basics to get you started and catching waves! The class starts with a short land lesson covering safety, paddling mechanics, and how to catch waves and get up on the board. After that we'll head out in the water and instructors will rotate around helping each person 1-on-1. You can expect approximately 1:30-2 hours of "water time" in the 2.5-hour total lesson. Maximum ratio of 4 students per instructor. Other things to note Arrive 20+ mins early! Parking costs $8 (subject to change). This is a group class, we cannot hold up others for late parties.
