- We will meet for a short orientation while you enjoy a welcoming coffee or cold drink. We will then introduce you to "the herd" and select a few horses to demo how to approach them, halter and lead them, groom them. You will then be helped to choose your own horse for the day. If the weather is cooperative, we can go for a short trail walk and perhaps see some of the wildlife who seem to be more comfortable and come closer when we humans are attached to a horse! Q and A is ongoing. All questions are welcome, and we will make every effort to gear the experience to the guests' individual interests. Some may simply want the 'therapy value' of touching and communicating. Some may want information on how we care for the horses. Some may want a demo on how we show them in competition. Energetic guests may want to take a horse over a set of appropriately scaled jumps or obstacles. All can be arranged, and everyone in the group can do something different, as long as I can maintain my ability to be six places at once. It's a talent. We can also provide a special occasion for any age guest and his or her celebrants, with appropriate refreshments that you bring along or order here. Other things to note Please dress appropriately for the weather. Closed-toe shoes, please. Sunscreen and bug repellent are handy seasonally. - Please contact me if you don't see a date that works for you! Our farm tours are scheduled in the mornings to coincide with daily chores to allow guests the opportunity to experience daily farm life. Guests will be able to watch the cow milking process and even try their hand at milking! From there, we will explain the journey from cow to milk jug. Guests will learn about the different ages and stages of the dairy cow, from birth through adulthood. We will meet, pet, and even feed baby calves, explore the barns, and possibly even witness a new baby being born! Every tour is adjusted to meet the needs and interests of our guests. We strive to encourage our guests to participate hands-on, and encourage questions and ideas! - Guests are welcomed into our barn where there will be a short explanation about how to safely interact with our goats. Guests will be accompanied into our goat pen to spend their time surrounded by 19 goats! Guests are often surprised at how friendly our girls are!! Goats are friendly, funny, curious creatures who are smart and capable of learning their names and routines, they are kinda like dogs! And every spring there will be a lot of GOAT BABIES to play with!!!!!! There is plenty of room to sit on the sleeping benches in our pen so you can spread out and enjoy your goat therapy session. Feel free to ask questions, we love to talk about our goats and share what we have learned through our experience in owning these amazing creatures. You are welcome to take photos and share them in your social media posts, if you know how please tag our farm! - Learn from a Master Potter how to "throw" pots on the potters wheel. This one hour class will take you from a ball of clay to your very own cup or bowl! You will learn the basic techniques needed to center the clay and form a pot. It's fun, it's mesmerizing and something you will remember for a lifetime. Other things to note A good attitude, the ability to use both hands and sit on a low stool is required. Two cats live in the studio! You can keep two pots that you make during the experience. They will be fired & shipped to you for a fee of $30 to be paid upon the arrival of the pieces by USPS. - Want to try your hand at glassblowing? It is exciting! Make a flower, paperweight, ornament and/or tumbler with our help. You'll experience first hand the thrill of working with molten glass and will create unique works of art from start to finish. Check out some of my projects at www.dugrenier.com I will start with an overview of the glass studio and the glassmaking process and give you an actual demonstration on how to make each item before you try it. You’ll gather the glass from the furnace, shape it on the marver, roll the glass in the color(s) of your choice, blow into the pipe, and help shape and reheat the pieces. After an overnight controlled cooling process, you walk away the next day with your own, one-of-a-kind creations or we can arrange shipping for a small additional cost. Other things to note Glassblowing is fun and suitable for everyone over the age of 8. We require that guest are vaccinated for Covid 19 to take the class.
